Course Description
This class introduces Trigger Point Needling, but with critically important skills that are often overlooked – palpation and needling skills.
In fact, these are the number 1 reason practitioners fail to get the results they should when treating MSK patients.
While many assume they already know how to needle, after a decade in continuing education we consistently see that poor palpation and needling technique is the #1 barrier to results, in both new and highly experienced practitioners. The good news is, we built this class to remedy that.
In this class, practitioners will learn how to palpate and needle fascia, muscle, trigger bands, and trigger points, with an emphasis on feeling the tissue, understanding the anatomy, and achieving the local twitch response (LTR). Common trigger points will be introduced, and the class will include a lot of hands-on practice.
In addition to the class, the Included pre-requisite vide will prepare attendees so they get even more out of the in-person training.
Course Objectives
-
Differentiate fascial, muscular, and trigger band tissue layers through palpation, demonstrating the ability to assess depth, tissue quality, and resistance prior to needle insertion.
-
Accurately locate and palpate common trigger points and trigger bands in the lower extremity, hip, low back, shoulder, neck, and head using flat palpation, pincer grip, and depth-based palpation techniques.
-
Demonstrate safe and effective needling techniques for trigger points, including appropriate needle depth, redirection, and palpation-with-needling strategies to engage target tissue and elicit the local twitch response (LTR) when clinically appropriate.
-
Integrate refined palpation and needling skills into hands-on clinical practice, applying improved tissue awareness and anatomical understanding to enhance precision, safety, and treatment results in musculoskeletal patients.
