SUMMARY:Assessment & Treatment of Pelvic Floor Disorders in Athletes
DESCRIPTION:April 11th-12th\, 2026 \n\n\n\n\nPelvic Floor Assessment\, Dry Needling\, & Rehabilitation for Athletes\nA 2-day\, sports-specific pelvic floor intensive for clinicians treating active populations. \n⚠️ Pre-Requisite Required: You must have taken a pelvic floor needling seminar to be eligible to attend this seminar \n\nDates: April 11th–12th\nLocation: Mesa\, AZ\nVenue: Crossfit Shokunin\nInvestment: $1295.00\nInstructors: James Werner\, DC\, M.Sc. (Sports Med)\, CSCS & Jamie Hampton\, DAOM\, L.Ac.\nPending 13.5 NCCAOM PDAs\nApproved for 13.5 California CEUs\, Category 1\, CEP#1721\n\n\n\n\n\nCourse Description\nPelvic floor dysfunction is one of the most overlooked contributors to pain\, impaired performance\, and incomplete recovery in athletes. High-impact loading\, heavy lifting\, rapid cutting mechanics\, cycling posture\, and sport-specific movement strategies can all overload the pelvic floor\, causing symptoms such as urinary leakage\, urgency\, pelvic pain\, groin pain\, hip dysfunction\, and reduced power output. \nThis groundbreaking 2-day seminar brings together two experts at the top of their fields to deliver the most comprehensive\, sports-specific pelvic floor training available. \nDr. Jamie Hampton\, DAOM\, L.Ac. leads participants through detailed anatomy\, pathology\, symptom reproduction\, pelvic floor screening\, and dry needling techniques tailored for active populations. Her extensive clinical experience brings nuance and specialized insight into treating pelvic floor disorders. \nDr. James Werner\, DC\, M.Sc. (Sports Med)\, CSCS\, Director of Rehabilitation at Tread Athletics\, teaches how pelvic floor dysfunction presents in sport\, alters movement mechanics\, and impacts performance. He demonstrates how hip\, core\, and lumbopelvic dysfunction integrate with pelvic floor disorders and how to correct movement patterns to prevent recurrence. \nParticipants will first complete prerequisite video lectures covering pelvic floor anatomy\, epidemiology of pelvic floor dysfunction in athletes\, sport-specific loading patterns\, and movement-based symptom reproduction. The in-person seminar is highly hands-on and taught in a CrossFit gym environment to train clinicians in assessment\, movement analysis\, pelvic floor screening\, and dry needling techniques. \nThis course bridges the gap between pelvic floor therapy\, orthopedic sports medicine\, and performance rehabilitation\, giving clinicians the tools to recognize\, assess\, and treat pelvic floor disorders in athletes of all levels. \n*Participants will needle each other during the lab portions. \n\n\nPrerequisite Content\nBefore the in-person seminar\, participants will receive pre-seminar slides covering important pelvic floor anatomy and function in athletes\, epidemiology of pelvic floor dysfunction in athletes\, sport-specific loading patterns\, and movement-based symptom reproduction. \n\n\nCourse Objectives\nBy the end of this seminar\, participants will be able to: \n\nIdentify common pelvic floor disorders in athletes and sport-specific mechanisms of injury.\nAnalyze hip\, core\, glute\, and lumbopelvic biomechanics contributing to pelvic floor dysfunction.\nApply dry needling techniques to pelvic floor and adjacent structures with safety and precision.\nIntegrate pelvic floor treatment with rehabilitation strategies.\nDevelop individualized treatment plans using needling\, rehab exercises\, and movement retraining.\nUnderstand treatment planning\, expected outcomes\, and supportive care strategies.\n\n\n\nDAY 1 — SATURDAY (9:00 AM – 5:30 PM)\n9:00am-10:00am: Pelvic floor acupuncture & Dry Needling Quick demo\, then hands-on practice \nApproaches to Athletes \n-Muscles/structures to check \n-Demos and palpation: emphasizing tissue quality \n10:00am-11:00am: Pelvic floor acupuncture & Dry Needling – demos + practice \n-Adductors \n-Obturators \n-Pubic Symphysis \n-ACL \n-Perineum \n-Estim \n11:00am-12:00pm: Pelvic floor acupuncture & Dry Needling – demos + practice \n-Bulbospongiosus \n-Ischiocavernosus \n-Other muscles/points for treating specific conditions \n12:00pm-1:00pm Lunch \n1:00pm-2:00pm: Squatting– Lecture / Demo / Lab \nVideo demos of squatting – High level athletes doing said movement \n-Sports examples \n-Bandwidth of what would be appropriate \n-Would have group repeat movements to see what trained eye can pick up \n-Go into how certain muscles might be affected. \n-Quick intro of what next steps would be \nMovement screen – Global Joint by joint assessment – example: \n\nIssues with stabilizing a knee? SUMMARY:Introduction to Trigger Point Palpation & Needling
DESCRIPTION:⚠️ SOLD OUT ⚠️\n\nIntroduction to Trigger Point Palpation & Needling\nBuild the palpation and needling skills that drive real results with musculoskeletal and pain patients. \n\n\n\nEvent Details\n\nDate: Sunday April 26th\, 2026\nTime: 9:00am–4:30pm\nCEUs: Approved for 6.5 NCCAOM PDAs\, Category AOM-AC\nVenue: University of Bridgeport\, CT\nInvestment: $300\n\n\n\nPre-Requisite Videos\nTop 5 Skills for Orthopedic Needling – This video includes lifetime access and is added to your account when you register.\nTo access\, go to My Account → Click Here to View Your On-Demand Courses. \n\n  \n\nCourse Description\nThis class introduces Trigger Point Needling\, but with critically important skills that are often overlooked – palpation and needling skills. \nIn fact\, these are the number 1 reason practitioners fail to get the results they should when treating MSK patients. \nWhile many assume they already know how to needle\, after a decade in continuing education we consistently see that poor palpation and needling technique is the #1 barrier to results\, in both new and highly experienced practitioners. The good news is\, we built this class to remedy that. \nIn this class\, practitioners will learn how to palpate and needle fascia\, muscle\, trigger bands\, and trigger points\, with an emphasis on feeling the tissue\, understanding the anatomy\, and achieving the local twitch response (LTR). Common trigger points will be introduced\, and the class will include a lot of hands-on practice. \nIn addition to the class\, the Included pre-requisite vide will prepare attendees so they get even more out of the in-person training. \n\nCourse Objectives\n\n\n\nDifferentiate fascial\, muscular\, and trigger band tissue layers through palpation\, demonstrating the ability to assess depth\, tissue quality\, and resistance prior to needle insertion. \n\n\nAccurately locate and palpate common trigger points and trigger bands in the lower extremity\, hip\, low back\, shoulder\, neck\, and head using flat palpation\, pincer grip\, and depth-based palpation techniques. \n\n\nDemonstrate safe and effective needling techniques for trigger points\, including appropriate needle depth\, redirection\, and palpation-with-needling strategies to engage target tissue and elicit the local twitch response (LTR) when clinically appropriate. \n\n\nIntegrate refined palpation and needling skills into hands-on clinical practice\, applying improved tissue awareness and anatomical understanding to enhance precision\, safety\, and treatment results in musculoskeletal patients. \n\n\n\n\nSeminar Schedule\n\n9:00am–9:30am: Introduction to the Class\n\nBiggest issues seen across Acupuncture practitioners of all backgrounds\nWhy and how palpation and needling skills determine clinical results\nAddressing the fascial part of myofascial pain\n\n9:30am-10:00am: Top 5 Needling Skills Review & Demos\n\nReview and demos of techniques from the pre-requisite video\nPalpating for locating and needling trigger points\n\nPincer grip\nFlat palpation\nOther variations\n\n\n\nPalpating depths\n\nFascia\nMuscle\nTendon\nLigament\nPalpating deep enough\n\n\nNeedling into trigger bands and trigger points\nGetting the twitch response\n\n\n\n10:00am-11:00am: Needling skills hands-on practice\n-Redirecting the needle\n-Needing to depth\n-Palpation with needling\n\n11:00am–11:30pm: Locating\, palpating\, and needling demos\n\nLower Leg\n\nGastrocnemius\nSoleus\nTibialis anterior\n\nUpper Leg\n\nRectus femoris\nVastus lateralis\nVMO\nHamstrings (with emphasis on realistic palpation at attachment sites)\n\n\n11:30-12:00pm: Hands-on practice locating\, palpating\, and needling the leg\n\n12:00pm-1:00pm Lunch\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n1:00pm-1:30pm:  Locating\, palpating\, and needling demos\n\nHip\n\nGlutes\nPiriformis\nTFL\n\nLow Back\n\nMultifidi\nLongissimus\n\n\n1:30pm-2:00pm: Hands-on practice of the hip and low back\n\n2:00pm-2:30pm: Locating\, palpating\, and needling demos\n\nShoulder\n\nDeltoid\nUpper\, Trap\nInfraspinatus\nLatissimus dorsi\n\n\n\n2:30pm-3:00pm: Locating\, palpating\, and needling hands-on practice Shoulder\n\n\n\n\n\n3:00pm-3:30pm: Locating\, palpating\, and needling demos\n\nNeck\n\nSCM\nSplenius capitis\nSplenius cervicis\n\n\n\n\n\nHead\n\nTemporalis\n\n3:30-4:00pm: Locating\, palpating\, and needling hands-on practice Neck and Head \n\nEnd of class. \nCancellation Policy: No refunds.
