Pelvic floor disorders are crippling to many patients\, stressing marriages and relationships\, affecting sexual and urogenital function\, and significantly reducing the quality of the patient’s life. While Acupuncture is one of the few treatments out there that can truly help resolve pelvic floor pain and dysfunction\, there are very few acupuncturists that specialize in treating pelvic floor disorders. Dr. Jamie Hampton\, DAOM\, L.Ac. is changing that by offering this seminar. Dr. Hampton has specialized in treating pelvic floor for 15 years and draws on her experience to give you a dynamic\, clinically focused class. \nThe pelvis is the attachment site of some 36 muscles. Understanding these structures and their relation to the pelvis is key. We start the seminar with the larger muscles that can affect the function of the pelvis and the pelvic floor\, and can cause pain into the pelvis and pelvic floor via trigger point referrals. We then go into the nerves\, ligaments\, and the pelvic floor itself\, covering needling of the pelvic diaphragm/levator ani\, common urogenitary and pelvic floor disorders of men and women\, and treatment strategies. Of course\, this seminar includes guided hands-on practice of needling. \nOther crucial aspects of treating pelvic floor patients are covered in this seminar\, including treatment room and patient management skills such as draping\, informed consent\, communication\, ethics\, patient interaction and treatment room etiquette\, and so on. This is the important training you get on the actual practice of pelvic floor acupuncture\, something only available from Jamie Hampton\, DAOM and her 15 years of specializing in treating pelvic floor patients. \nAttendees of Jamie’s classes also get access to her private community\, where they can ask question and receive guidance on helping pelvic floor patients. \nCourse objectives: \n\nReview trigger points\, pain\, peripheral and central sensitization\, pain referrals\nReview and learn the specific muscles of the lumbo-pelvic region: Iliopsoas\, QL\, Multifidi\, etc. (see list below)\nReview anatomy of the pelvis including bone\, ligaments\, plexi\nLearn the anatomy and function of the pelvic diaphragm\, levator ani\, and perineum\nUnderstand common pelvic floor complaints\, pain\, and disorders due to trigger points\, pelvic and pelvic floor dysfunction\nLearn treatment strategies\, needling techniques\, and electro-acupuncture for pelvic floor disorders\nUnderstand proper treatment room etiquette and ethics when treating pelvic floor patients\n\n \nCourse outline:  \nFRIDAY: \n9:00am-9:30am: Introduction to the weekend course; Trigger Point Needling/Dry Needling Overview \n9:30-10:30: Trigger point anatomy; Pain: Peripheral and central sensitization; Trigger Point Referrals \n10:30-10:45: Break \n10:45-11:45: Palpation\, needling skills/techniques \n11:45-12:00pm: Needling demo \n12:00-1:00pm: Lunch \n1:00-1:30: Glutes & Piriformis lecture and demo \n1:30-2:00: Glutes & Piriformis hands-on \n2:00-2:30: Multifidi and QL lecture and demo \n2:30-3:00: Multifidi and QL hands-on \n3:00-3:30: Quads & TFL \n3:30-4:00: Quads & TFL \n4:00-4:30: Hamstrings \n4:30-5:00: Hamstrings \n5:00-5:30: Adductors & Pectineus; The femoral triangle \n5:30-6:00: Adductors & Pectineus \nSATURDAY: \n9:00-9:30: Iliopsoas lecture and demo \n9:30-10:00am: Iliopsoas hands-on practice \n10:00am-11:00am: Clinical ethics and how to approach your patient safely\, including victims of sexual abuse/violence\, w/discussion. \n11:00am-12:00pm: Unwrapping the Pelvis with female emphasis: Overview of Anatomy & Physiology; bones\, ligaments\, pelvic diaphragm & levator ani\, perineum & anococcygeal ligament\, palpation specific to the PF \n12:00-1:00pm: Lunch \n1:00-1:30: Getting familiar with needling the pelvic floor: informed consent\, communication\, safety; palpation if not covered above \n1:30-2:15: Acupuncture techniques overview: Trigger points\, motor points pertinent to helping your patients; Needling technique for the PF overview; needle sizes\, lengths\, ideal techniques \n2:15-2:45pm: Draping and ligament demos \n2:45-3:15: Ligaments hands-on practice \n3:15-3:30: Pelvic diaphragm/Levator ani demos \n3:30-4:15: Pelvic diaphragm/Levator ani hands-on practice \n4:15-4:45: Obturator Internus; QF\, Gemellus \n4:45-5:15: Obturator hands-on \n5:15-5:30: Anococcygeal ligament demo \n5:30-6:00: Anococcygeal hands-on \nSUNDAY: \n9:00am-9:30am: Nerve plexi\, sympathetic chain; sacral foramen \n9:30-10:00: Electro-acupuncture techniques \n10:00-10:30: Sacral foramen and HTJJ estim demo \n10:30-11:15: Sacral foramen and HTJJ estim hands-on practice \n11:15-12:00: Coccydynia lecture \n12:00-1:00: Lunch \n1:00-1:30: Coccydynia hands-on practice \n1:30-2:15: Bladder lecture including urachus\, rec abs\, pyramidalis\, umbilicus needling \n2:15-3:00: Bladder hands-on practice: rec abs\, urachus\, umbilicus needling \n3:00-3:30: Postpartum birth/trauma scar/episiotomy \n3:30-4:00pm: Scars practice \n4:00-5:00pm: Open lab or catch-up \n\nAdvanced Pelvic Floor Acupuncture & Dry Needling:  \nPre-requisite: To attend the Advanced Pelvic Floor seminar\, you must have attended Jamie Hampton’s first pelvic floor seminar\, Treatment of Pelvic Floor Disorders with Acupuncture \nApproved for 20 California CEU’s\, CEP#1721 \nApproved for 20 NCCAOM PDAs \nDates: October 25th-27th\, 2024 \nInstructors: Dr. Jamie Hampton\, DAOM; Darren O’Rourke\, L.Ac. \nAssistants: Lolane Glundal\, L.Ac. and Moses Alvarez\, L.Ac. \nVenue: TBD\, Tampa\, FL \nCourse description: This seminar is the next in the pelvic floor series offered by Jamie Hampton\, DAOM. \n11:00am-12:00pm: Unwrapping the Pelvis with female emphasis: Overview of Anatomy & Physiology; bones\, ligaments\, pelvic diaphragm & levator ani\, perineum & anococcygeal ligament\, palpation specific to the PF \n12:00-1:00pm: Lunch \n1:00-1:30: Getting familiar with needling the pelvic floor: informed consent\, communication\, safety; palpation if not covered above \n1:30-2:15: Acupuncture techniques overview: Trigger points\, motor points pertinent to helping your patients; Needling technique for the PF overview; needle sizes\, lengths\, ideal techniques \n2:15-2:45pm: Draping and ligament demos \n2:45-3:15: Ligaments hands-on practice \n3:15-3:30: Pelvic diaphragm/Levator ani demos \n3:30-4:15: Pelvic diaphragm/Levator ani hands-on practice \n4:15-4:45: Obturator Internus; QF\, Gemellus \n4:45-5:15: Obturator hands-on \n5:15-5:30: Anococcygeal ligament demo \n5:30-6:00: Anococcygeal hands-on \nSUNDAY: \n9:00am-9:30am: Nerve plexi\, sympathetic chain; sacral foramen \n9:30-10:00: Electro-acupuncture techniques \n10:00-10:30: Sacral foramen and HTJJ estim demo \n10:30-11:15: Sacral foramen and HTJJ estim hands-on practice \n11:15-12:00: Coccydynia lecture \n12:00-1:00: Lunch \n1:00-1:30: Coccydynia hands-on practice \n1:30-2:15: Bladder lecture including urachus\, rec abs\, pyramidalis\, umbilicus needling \n2:15-3:00: Bladder hands-on practice: rec abs\, urachus\, umbilicus needling \n3:00-3:30: Postpartum birth/trauma scar/episiotomy \n3:30-4:00pm: Scars practice \n4:00-5:00pm: Open lab or catch-up \n\nAbout Jamie Hampton\, L.Ac.: \nDr. Jamie Hampton is a doctoral graduate of The American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine\, the oldest TCM school in the US. Pelvic floor disorders are crippling to many patients\, stressing marriages and relationships\, affecting sexual and urogenital function\, and significantly reducing the quality of the patient’s life. Acupuncture and Dry Needling is one of the few treatments out there that can truly help resolve pelvic floor pain and dysfunction\, but there are very few acupuncturists that are trained to treat these patients. Dr. Jamie Hampton\, DAOM\, L.Ac. is changing that by offering her pelvic floor seminars. Dr. Hampton has specialized in treating pelvic floor for 15 years and draws on her experience to give you a dynamic\, clinically focused class that will give effective skills you won’t find anywhere else. \nThe pelvis is the attachment site of some 36 muscles. Understanding these structures and their relation to the pelvis is key. In this seminar\, we focus on the most important ones\, and start with some of the larger muscles that can affect the function of the pelvis and the pelvic floor and can cause pain into the pelvis and pelvic floor via trigger point referrals. We then go into the ligaments and the pelvic floor itself\, covering needling of the pelvic ligaments\, pelvic diaphragm/levator ani\, common urogenitary\, and treatment strategies. This is the important training you get on the actual practice of pelvic floor acupuncture\, which is crucial so you can start treating these patients after the seminar. \nAttendees of Jamie’s classes also get access to her private community\, where they can ask question and receive guidance on helping pelvic floor patients. \n\nDates: March 23rd & 24th\, 2024 \nTime: Saturday 9:00am-6:30pm; Sunday 9:00am-6:00pm \nLocation: Dublin\, Ireland \nVenue: Crowne Plaza Hotel\, Dublin airport  \n*We have a discounted room block at this hotel\, under the name ASE Seminars. \nPLEASE NOTE: There will be needling practice during the seminar\, including in the pelvic floor region. She has worked in leading San Francisco Bay Area hospitals for the last 18 years with an emphasis on true integration and collaboration within fast paced clinical settings including the ICU. While she was an adjunct professor through University of California\, San Francisco she also had the privilege of teaching grand rounds to medical students. This experience blossomed into a faculty position at the Acupuncture and Integrative Medical College in Berkeley\, CA where she taught advanced needling technique\, gynecology and advanced formula writing. This solidified her love of teaching and connecting with her students\, conveying the power of TCM and all its abilities. She was also co-founder of Golden Leaf Acupuncture in Berkeley\, CA which was University California Berkeley’s leading provider for students as well as faculty and staff. Having discovered a total lack of treatment options for pelvic floor pain (including acupuncture) Dr. Hampton made it her mission to specialize in helping these patients. She has treated pelvic floor patients since 2009.
