SUMMARY:Introduction to Trigger Point Palpation & Needling
DESCRIPTION:Introduction to Trigger Point Palpation & Needling\nBuild the palpation and needling skills that drive real results with musculoskeletal and pain patients. \n\n\n\nEvent Details\n\nDate: Sunday April 26th\, 2026\nTime: 9:00am–4:30pm\nCEUs: Approved for 6.5 NCCAOM PDAs\, Category AOM-AC\nVenue: University of Bridgeport\, CT\nInvestment: $300\n\n\n\nPre-Requisite Videos\nTop 5 Skills for Orthopedic Needling – This video includes lifetime access and is added to your account when you register.\nTo access\, go to My Account → Click Here to View Your On-Demand Courses. \n\n  \n\nCourse Description\nThis class introduces Trigger Point Needling\, but with critically important skills that are often overlooked – palpation and needling skills. \nIn fact\, these are the number 1 reason practitioners fail to get the results they should when treating MSK patients. \nWhile many assume they already know how to needle\, after a decade in continuing education we consistently see that poor palpation and needling technique is the #1 barrier to results\, in both new and highly experienced practitioners. The good news is\, we built this class to remedy that. \nIn this class\, practitioners will learn how to palpate and needle fascia\, muscle\, trigger bands\, and trigger points\, with an emphasis on feeling the tissue\, understanding the anatomy\, and achieving the local twitch response (LTR). Common trigger points will be introduced\, and the class will include a lot of hands-on practice. \nIn addition to the class\, the Included pre-requisite vide will prepare attendees so they get even more out of the in-person training. \n\nCourse Objectives\n\n\n\nDifferentiate fascial\, muscular\, and trigger band tissue layers through palpation\, demonstrating the ability to assess depth\, tissue quality\, and resistance prior to needle insertion. \n\n\nAccurately locate and palpate common trigger points and trigger bands in the lower extremity\, hip\, low back\, shoulder\, neck\, and head using flat palpation\, pincer grip\, and depth-based palpation techniques. \n\n\nDemonstrate safe and effective needling techniques for trigger points\, including appropriate needle depth\, redirection\, and palpation-with-needling strategies to engage target tissue and elicit the local twitch response (LTR) when clinically appropriate. \n\n\nIntegrate refined palpation and needling skills into hands-on clinical practice\, applying improved tissue awareness and anatomical understanding to enhance precision\, safety\, and treatment results in musculoskeletal patients. \n\n\n\n\nSeminar Schedule\n\n9:00am–9:30am: Introduction to the Class\n\nBiggest issues seen across Acupuncture practitioners of all backgrounds\nWhy and how palpation and needling skills determine clinical results\nAddressing the fascial part of myofascial pain\n\n9:30am-10:00am: Top 5 Needling Skills Review & Demos\n\nReview and demos of techniques from the pre-requisite video\nPalpating for locating and needling trigger points\n\nPincer grip\nFlat palpation\nOther variations\n\n\n\nPalpating depths\n\nFascia\nMuscle\nTendon\nLigament\nPalpating deep enough\n\n\nNeedling into trigger bands and trigger points\nGetting the twitch response\n\n\n\n10:00am-11:00am: Needling skills hands-on practice\n-Redirecting the needle\n-Needing to depth\n-Palpation with needling\n\n11:00am–11:30pm: Locating\, palpating\, and needling demos\n\nLower Leg\n\nGastrocnemius\nSoleus\nTibialis anterior\n\nUpper Leg\n\nRectus femoris\nVastus lateralis\nVMO\nHamstrings (with emphasis on realistic palpation at attachment sites)\n\n\n11:30-12:00pm: Hands-on practice locating\, palpating\, and needling the leg\n\n12:00pm-1:00pm Lunch\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n1:00pm-1:30pm:  Locating\, palpating\, and needling demos\n\nHip\n\nGlutes\nPiriformis\nTFL\n\nLow Back\n\nMultifidi\nLongissimus\n\n\n1:30pm-2:00pm: Hands-on practice of the hip and low back\n\n2:00pm-2:30pm: Locating\, palpating\, and needling demos\n\nShoulder\n\nDeltoid\nUpper\, Trap\nInfraspinatus\nLatissimus dorsi\n\n\n\n2:30pm-3:00pm: Locating\, palpating\, and needling hands-on practice Shoulder\n\n\n\n\n\n3:00pm-3:30pm: Locating\, palpating\, and needling demos\n\nNeck\n\nSCM\nSplenius capitis\nSplenius cervicis\n\n\n\n\n\nHead\n\nTemporalis\n\n3:30-4:00pm: Locating\, palpating\, and needling hands-on practice Neck and Head \n\nEnd of class. \nCancellation Policy: No refunds.
